Krista DeNio

Artistic Director

“As an artist, I intend to communicate the way I see the world as a human participant in a giant global landscape- with compassion, critique, humor, and depth- a kaleidoscope of beautiful, horrific, irrational, whole, misguided, miraculous, magnificent complexity.”

Krista (she/hers) is an interdisciplinary choreographer, director, performer, writer and educator. She facilitates creative projects based in the principles and practices of ensemble-based theater. Her work is based in embodied experience, social justice, civic engagement and human-to-human interaction. Artistic Director of MovingGround, she is committed to engaging interdisciplinary collaboration that bridges performance work, education and activism toward a socially just world. Read more here

    Heidi Erickson

    Projects Coordinator

Heidi (she/hers) is a movement artist and arts administrator from Colorado, who has worked with MovingGround administratively and creatively since 2020. She graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2022 with a bachelor’s in Performing Arts and Social Justice. She has danced with the NETWORK project and EchoTheaterSuitcase, as well as the Dance Generators. She is also currently the Productions Coordinator for Fresh Meat Productions.

      Emma Dewey

      Development Intern

Emma (she/he/they) is a Bay Area-raised dancer and choreographer currently based in Lisjan Ohlone lands (Oakland). She is an Emerging Artist in Residence at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, where her work explores the embodied legacies of US empire in her Chinese lineage, and how these legacies interface with whiteness, assimilation, and citizenship structures within their Chinese and white identity. Emma holds a BA in Dance and Anthropology from Bowdoin College and has shown work at the School For Contemporary Dance & Thought, Dance Mission Theater, Bowdoin College, and Dancing Earth Creations. Emma’s practice weaves together dance, oral history, archival research, and poetry, so they are thrilled to be supporting Moving Ground’s interdisciplinary and community-oriented work.
